iEmergence Inc. launched a beautiful book picturing and documenting the November 2013 gathering of Indigenous leaders, pastors and partners where they shared stories of how they are integrating their understandings of Jesus Christ with their tribal culture. Three themes defined the discussions: 1) Impact of Christian Mission; 2) Indigenous Christian Leadership; 3) Faith and Community. The book provides not only summaries of key reflections, it also serves as a resource for additional localized discussion. It includes guide questions for appreciative conversations, action points from different tribal communities and critical questions for further reflection.

Some reviews of the book:

"This book solidified the plan to hold a similar conversation in the north.”
- Jones Padeo, Kankanaey, Solid Rock Ministries, Cordillera Region, Philippines

“Kini nga libro makatabang gayud sa among pagpasabot sa mga tao sa among tinguha nga mapadayon ang panaghisgot sa among lugar.”
(This book helped us in making people in our community understand our desire to continue the conversation within our own locality. )
- Pastor Romeo Aglas, Ata Tribe, Davao City, Philippines

During the launching, participants shared new stories of how the November gathering impacted their communities and to envision the future of the “Conversation.” Participants from a Christian college in a small city in Mindanao shared how they used what they learned to organize an Indigenous People student association. Another tribal pastor shared how the gathering re-sparked his commitment to being authentic in both his faith and culture. A youth leader shared how he decided to use tribal music rather than modern in a music-writing workshop. A major result was a commitment to widen the circle of stakeholders, both Indigenous People and non-Indigenous People, who could support these efforts at cultural preservation. This includes efforts at: holistic leadership training; collectively sharing, reflecting and documenting Indigenous People history and experiences, especially peace pacts; recognizing schools of living tradition and integrating Indigenous People’s culture into mainstream schools; supporting women and youth programs along with traditional arts, storytelling, dance and song.
