Mish Adventures 2015
CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME VIDEO FROM MISH ADVENTURES 2015!
This year, Mish Adventures ran from July 11 to August 2, 2015 at the Mishkeegogamang reserve in northern Ontario. The camp provided a fun and life-giving summer experience for First Nations children and youth. Each day at camp was packed with exciting activities such as swimming, canoeing, sports, crafts and wacky games. In all these, the children were encouraged to be who they are created to be by staff who see their great potential. In one of the weeks, the youth also gathered in Muskoka Woods to discover their inner strengths and build their capacities as future leaders of their community.
Youth Leadership Week
YOUTH LEADERSHIP WEEK AT MUSKOKA WOODS
What an amazing week we have had in Muskoka Woods with youth from Mishkeegogamang First Nation in Northern Ontario. We had an action-packed 9 days of zip-lining, paddle-boarding, tubing, canoeing, paint-balling and archery. We also enjoyed attempting new tricks on the trampolines, screaming down the “Kraken” waterslide and soaring to new heights on the big swing. We look forward to returning to Mishkeegogamang with many stories to share as we head into our first week of youth camp!
Mish Adventures Week One
MISH ADVENTURES CAMP - WEEK ONE
This week was our first week of camp in Mishkeegogamang First Nation in Northern Ontario where we had 5 fantastic days with the youth of the community. At youth camp, we started exploring and talking about the 7 Grandfather Teachings – focusing specifically on Respect, Courage, Humility and Wisdom. This week we enjoyed beautiful, sunny days of swimming, canoeing, playing games, doing crafts and hanging out with friends. This week we also enjoyed an entire day at the beach, we made our own music videos and we participated in the first annual “Mish Adventures Messtival”. It has been a wonderful week participating in many new games, sharing our ideas about the Grandfather Teachings and laughing a lot! We look forward to more fun in youth camp in the next two weeks!
Mish Adventures Week Two
MISH ADVENTURES CAMP - WEEK TWO
This week has been very busy and action-packed in Mishkeegogamang First Nation as we had 5 full days of Youth Camp and Kids Camp running together. We were very excited to have our Senior and Junior Leaders join our camp staff this week and we were privileged to have their help leading groups, cooking lunch as well as planning and running stations. Kids Camp ran so smoothly with so many amazing, creative and capable leaders. In Kids Camp, we talked about the 7 Grandfather Teachings – focusing specifically on Wisdom, Love, Respect and Truth. We also had Wacky Day, Happy Birthday Day, Beach Day and Olympic Day. There was definitely lots of excitement in Kids Camp this week! In Youth Camp, we continued learning about the 7 Grandfather Teachings with stories and discussions around Truth, Honesty and Love. Youth also got to participate in the Annual Mish Adventure Olympics, adventure through many activities in Life-Size Day and play many other exciting games and sports this week. We can’t wait to see what fun is in store for our third and final week in Mishkeegogamang First Nation next week!
